Dye-agam Books

Lucy Likes Clouds © Dye-agram Books
It all started on a family vacation, traveling for hours at a time in the family van. We kept occupied by reading the dozens of books we had checked out from the public library, several of them on clouds. Over the many miles we tried to name the different kinds of clouds in the sky. To include their baby sister better, the children decided to write a book about clouds – just for her. And voila! the first Dye-agram Book was born!
It was so much fun (especially for the mom) that we decided to continue making more books. Perhaps we will never stop. It feels a little like playing house or pretend. Hey! Let's say we're authors and we write famous children's books, and illustrate them with cute pictures, and we're publishers, too, and we print the books, and then let's pretend that we sell the books and people buy them and we get rich. And then we write more books. Isn't pretend the best! We did it a lot with chores. Hey! Let's say we're servants and we're commanded to sweep the floor, and wash the dishes, and peel the potatoes. And let's pretend the mom is the cruel queen who will put us in the dungeon if we're slackers. Then let's say we sneak off to the park where the cruel queen has turned back into the nice mama and has a picnic for us. It all worked well and made for lots of fun. Some of my happiest moments were spying on the children with their friends and listening to them play "pretend." They always started with, "Let's say. . ."
If you want, come join in and play pretend with us. Hey! Let's say we're all excited for the first professionally printed Dye-agram Books to come out. Then let's say we pay for our order and a book gets delivered to our door. Then let's imagine we give the book to grandma who gathers with her little darlings around her for story time. And let's pretend we love her with a love that will never end.
With all this playtime going on, we better pretend we are in a panic to get the first book out.
We'll pretend to let you know when that happens.
